Thompson reveals Season Three plans

In a recent interview with IF Magazine, Battlestar Galactica writer and producer Bradley Thompson speculated on plotlines and love interests for the show's upcoming third season.
Beware of spoilers for the end of Season Two.
"It's more of a season-by-season mission statement of Ron [Moore, executive producer] saying where he wants people to go," he said. "Before we've rolled anything we've thought about and broken the shows for eight episodes. For example, eight stories already exist for Season Three."
The Season Two cliffhanger left the humans trying to build a colony. "Part of what Ron wanted to do by jumping a year ahead, besides not wanting to do a western town like Joss Whedon did in Firefly, was a chance to reconfigure characters," Thompson said.
So will Katie Sackhoff ("Kara Thrace") get a Cylon lover?
"Katee should be careful what she asks for!" Thompson said. "We don't really predict when we are going to pull out a Cylon to show somebody. It just seems that they just show up. We don't decide to unmask two Cylons a season or anything like that. Ron was writing 'Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1' and all of a sudden Brother Cavil (Dean Stockwell) appeared to him and said it's time!"
And what about the Cylon-human hybrid baby?
"Let's say we're not going to drop the baby all together, because we set it up and it means a lot to the Cylons," he said. "But the baby is only about a year and a half old when we get into Season Three, so it's probably not going to be walking on water yet."
Thompson also spoke to the future of the Cylons. "It's like evolution in the real world," he said. "We'll just see what happens. We have talked about the Cylons having the ability to replace existing humans, but it has always been rejected. ... They won't be our good buddies for very long."
"Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) has a destiny, and the scriptures of Kobol predict it," Thompson said. Does that mean she'll regain the presidency? "But we don't know if she's the leader. All of these things will be answered fairly rapidly in the first three or four weeks in October."

First details on Season Three premiere

GateWorld has uncovered the first plot details from "Occupation," the third season premiere of Battlestar Galactica!

D'Anna Biers (Lucy Lawless) enters an Oracles tent to visit Selloi Dedona, a frail old woman who is not well. She knows who D'Anna is, and what she is -- a Cylon, "Number Three." But D'Anna herself is not sure why she has come here. The Oracle chews on a handful of chamalla leaves (the planet from which the drug that Laura Roslin once took comes).
Meanwhile, inside the Cylon Planning Ministry, Ellen Tigh is "frakking" an unknown partner. Elsewhere, Tyrol and Anders are a part of a new human resistance movement on New Caprica. They plant a bomb, and attempt to remote detonate it when a Cylon heavy cruiser filled with humanoid Cylons draws near. The device fails at first but later detonates, giving the resistance a much-needed victory.
Laura Roslin remains a school teacher on the planet's surface. Inside her school, she and her former assistant Tory examine several hastily-taken photographs, trying to identify the members of a police force -- possibly humans who are now collaborating with the Cylon occupiers. They await the return of Adama and the Battlestar Galactica.
Saul Tigh, meanwhile, is being held against his will in a Cylon detention facility. Brother Cavil is there, and indicates to him that Tigh may be there a while.
Back in the Oracle's tent, Selloi tells D'Anna that the Cylon has lost her faith -- she not only does not believe in the Colonial pantheon, but not in her own god either. She knows about the dreams that D'Anna has been having, and claims that she is a messenger from God -- just as her dreams are. D'Anna shares the same flaw as the legendary Medusa, she says, and it will lead to her downfall.
Selloi delivers her message to the Cylon: The hybrid child of Sharon Valerii and Karl Agathon is alive. Her name is Hera, and she is alive.
